Experiencing hair loss is incredibly uncomfortable especially if you don't know why it is happening. The why could be from a myriad of reasons and more often then not it is emotional distress. I have treated many patients with acupuncture for hair loss and I always wind up sharing at least one of these tips because they helped my hair grow back after an emotional period of time.
1. Use a tonic with tea tree oil to promote scalp health. When we are stressed our bodies produce extra DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, which does not allow our scalp to breathe which is why we loose hair. A tonic gets the debris off the scalp and balances out the pH which promotes healthy growth. The skin on the scalp needs to be stimulated just like the skin on the face. By increasing circulation and helping the body’s natural ability to detoxify, the hair follicles become stronger and can withstand stress. Using a stimulating tonic to improve circulation is what one must do at least 3-4 times a week when washing hair. To keep from drying the hair out, just massage the scalp with tonic, not the ends.
2. Oil treatment once a week. A regular coconut oil massage will help strengthen hair growth from the roots to the tips. Adding a couple of drops of peppermint oil to the coconut oil will give your scalp extra stimulation and circulation. The oils contain moisture which protects the hair from damage from the sun or blow driers or curling irons.
3. The right shampoo for your skin. Sulfates are not used in any Veridatta products because they are very strong and can be irritating to the skin. However, the scalp is a different story. If you have extremely oily skin you may need a shampoo with sulfates in order to cut the grease. If you don't properly cleanse the scalp there is not enough healthy gas exchange which weakens the hair follicles and the strands fall out.
However, if you have dry or sensitive skin you definitely do not want to use a shampoo with sulfates. The sulfates will dry out the scalp weakening the follicles and strip the hair causing breakage.
Moral of the story? Pay attention! Pay attention to what is causing stress or emotional upset in your life and take care of it. When your heart is in a good place a little tea tree tonic and a little coconut oil massage will set you on the gravy train to a healthy head of hair.
